The
rockfishes are important in recreational and commercial
fisheries.There are currently close to 70 identifiable
species of rock fish that live off the Pacific Coast.
They are slow growing and some appear to live well over
30 years. They tend to live in rocky reef areas and kelp
beds within easy boating distance from shore. They are
one of the better printing fish and one of my personal
favorites. They have great scales, prominent dorsal fins
and a bony head that lends itself well to printing.
